Your Friendly Bacteria
Probiotics are live microorganisms, including bacteria and yeasts, that are touted for their numerous health benefits. They are commonly found in yogurts or taken as dietary supplements and are often referred to as "good" or "friendly" bacteria.
These probiotics are believed to help restore the natural balance of gut bacteria (in the stomach and intestines) when disrupted by illness or medical treatments.
Some evidence suggests that probiotics may be beneficial in certain situations, such as alleviating some symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
